“First, I must say that I absolutely love the people at COR. There is never a day that I dread–and I believe that is a bold statement; especially when rough days arise. I really do care about the well-being of these individuals and I believe the strong relationships I have built reflect this. Secondly, I feel that my honesty and enthusiasm makes others feel safe and loved; and others are able to open up to me. I want to treat everyone the same and not talk down to anyone. I consciously practice what I preach and always strive to be fair in both decision making and everyday conversations.”

Celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#DEAM).

Since 2014, COR and University of Regina Campus For All have been partners in the #4to40 Inclusive Employment Initiative! Together, we strive to support diversity in the workplace by raising awareness and expanding an employers’ definition of diversity to include people experiencing an intellectual disability.

When people with intellectual disabilities are hired in the workplace, the typical understanding of disability is disrupted and new possibilities for belonging and meaningful contribution emerge!

Today marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

Orange Shirt Day is intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

On this day, and everyday, we invite our COR family to listen and learn as we continue to strive toward strengthening our relationship with our indigenous friends, families, partners and communities.

COR is proud to host the 23rd Annual Gentle Teaching International Conference. We are privileged to have the support of the Gentle Teaching International community to carry on with the work established by our dear friend, the late Dr. John McGee. We hope our efforts will honor his passion to ensure others always feel safe, loved, loving and engaged.

All My Relations.
A story rooted in our commitment to listening, learning and taking meaningful action.

The Tipi was raised in the heart of our community. The 13 poles were raised in ceremony by the hands of current and new members of our community, taught by @prescott.demas. The canvas from @creestargifts_ was painted by the artists of our community, designed and led by @jori_anne_art. It found purpose through the work @brookica_love is engaging in with us. Its’ inception began as an idea nurtured by @ben.morris.presents in our studio and it stands as a symbol of a common understanding our entire community shares: inclusivity.

This Tipi, not designed as a project with an end goal, a deadline, or with a specific meeting time. It stands as a commitment to each other. A space where we can all exist; where we can all nurture, teach and sustain the experience of connectedness, companionship and community.
