We are beyond grateful for our entire COR team. Your work changes lives. You create spaces of belonging, build relationships rooted in trust, and support people in living full and meaningful lives within community.

We had the opportunity to host a Rattle Making Workshop with kêhtê-ayak Nina Wilson and her oskâpêwis helper, Daniel Sangrey.

Participants created traditional rattles using elk hide while learning about their meaning and significance. In the Nehiyawak creation story it is taught that the beginning of the universe was sound. The rattle represents this sound through its rumbling & thunder-like voice. They are also connected to spring as the Nehiyawak spring starts when the first thunderstorm arrives. The rattle also accompanies the drum, with the drum being the heartbeat of turtle island (Kokum turtle) and the rattle being the rhythm of that heartbeat.

Thank you to Nina and Daniel for sharing their knowledge and to everyone who joined us. It was a meaningful experience centered on learning, culture, and connection!

After years in a different industry, Jeff decided to try something new and found a role centered around connection and community.
